The Rosenberg Air Movement Group recently completed AMCA validation and certification for a wide range of the latest high efficiency backward curved impeller with EC motors. A total of 31 models of Rosenberg GKH backward curved fans in the fan-only or plug-fan configurations are now AMCA certified.
The AMCA-certified fans are available with 3 impeller types in sizes from 280-mm to 630-mm. All are powered by high-efficiency EC motors. The largest models deliver airflows of more than 12,700 CFM at free air or 6,000 CFM at 6,3”WG. Click here to download complete specs.
Three Distinct Impeller Designs
The newly certified fans include Rosenberg B, I and E series impellers, providing more choices for more applications.
- Rosenberg B-Series fans are built around a cast aluminum backward curved impeller designed with seven blades and unique wheel geometry that provide for impeller efficiencies up to 78% while reducing noise by up to three dB(A) compared to previous impeller generations. It also increases airflow compared to standard impellers operating at the same speed.
- Rosenberg’s new high-efficiency, high-volume I-impeller fan design features five backward-curved, hollow profiled, airfoil section aluminum blades, with an efficiency-optimized circumferential diffuser. Depending on fan size and operating point, the new impeller increases efficiencies by up to 11% while reducing noise levels by more than half compared to other impellers. I-series blades are positioned diagonally and top-flared so that airflow direction is optimized for the highest efficiency and flow rates.
- Rosenberg E-series fans employ a very highly efficient and exceptionally quiet glass fiber reinforced impeller with seven blades and a narrow circumferential diffuser to optimize efficiency and volume flow. The 280-mm impeller is made of polyamide (PA66). Sizes from 315-mm and up constructed of polypropylene (PP).
High-Efficiency EC Motors
Rosenberg’s GKH backward curved radial fans utilize long-life, low-temperature EC motors with integrated power electronics. Highly energy-efficient, they meet all requirements of the European Union’s ErP Directive for fans.
All Rosenberg EC motors come with a pre-installed potentiometer and provide variable fan speed control from 5% to 100%. Air volume can be adjusted to any possible operating point. The motors are UL- Recognized, CE approved, and are ModBus compatible for easily networked system controls.
Rosenberg’s advanced Gen3 and Gen3+ EC motors – standard on all the AMCA Certified fans except for Model GKHM 280-CIE.065.4EA IE MX – are available with up to 7.2 kW of power input. Standard features include:
- Integrated inspection LED to visualize motor condition. It is visible from the outside through the composite material of the cover of the motor.
- Improved ModBus RTU functionality. The motor not only measures its current power consumption, but also continuously records total energy consumption. This makes it easier to evaluate the operating conditions of a selected fan and simplifies preventive maintenance.
- Electronic Quick-Change Technology (EQC). For replacement or preventive maintenance, it is possible to change the electronic head within minutes and without touching other parts of the fan.
- IT-network (Earthing system) support. IT-network is a configuration of the power grid often used in hospitals and data centers for increasing system fault tolerance.

About AMCA
The Air Movement and Control Association International, Inc. is a not-for-profit international association of the world’s manufacturers of related air system equipment — primarily, but not limited to fans, louvers, dampers, air curtains, airflow measurement stations, acoustic attenuators, and other air system components for the industrial, commercial, and residential markets.
The association’s mission is to promote the health and growth of the industries covered by its scope and the members of the association consistent with the interests of the public. AMCA International, with origins dating back to 1917, has members in most industrialized countries throughout the world.
